Being fierce is empowering and a huge favor you can do for yourself. Being fierce means standing your ground when the going gets tough. A woman who is fierce is always looking to better herself and the world around her. When I think of fierce women, I think of Beyoncé, Rowan Blanchard, Yara Shahidi, Malala Yousafzai, and Megyn Kelly. Celebrities aren’t the only women that I see as fierce, my grandmothers are fierce as well. One of my grandmothers raised three kids on her own, traveled the world, and battled cancer three different times while the other raised six kids, has traveled the world, and continues to educate herself every day. I am blessed to have fierce women all around me all the time. My teachers, my mom, my sisters; fierce women are the women in our lives who push us to be the best we can be.
When you’re a fierce woman, you respect yourself- and your limits. You realize when you need a day to yourself, some zen yoga, or some help, and you allow yourself to have it. Then you keep moving forward, which is the important part. Fierce women try their hardest and support other fierce women in the process. Fierceness comes from the inside out- and sometimes it’s in the form of awesome purple pumps and a sick denim jacket.
Why is being fierce so important? Think about Queen Bey. She inspires people every day with her music. Or Rowan Blanchard. Even though she has had every girl’s dream come true starring in a Disney show, she is always ready to advocate for causes she believes in. Yara is going to Harvard, has her own TV show, and Michelle Obama wrote her letter of recommendation! Who wouldn’t want to be all amazing like these women? They prove every single day that being a strong, independent women is the definition of fierce.
Every day we can choose to be fierce. Fiercely kind, fiercely loyal, fiercely unique; there a billion different ways to be fierce. I’m READY to choose to be fierce today, tomorrow, and forever.
